Confucius said, "It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you
do not stop." Truer words were never spoken. Remember the tortoise
and the hare? You succeed by not stopping.I have noticed it when I
take the weed whacker to the back yard. I just pick a spot to start
and keep whacking until I finish. I have noticed it when I pull
weeds from the garden. I pull the first weed and keep going until
all of the weeds are pulled.

I have noticed it when I take my morning walk. I take the first step
and keep going until I reach my destination or my desired time limit.

It works with doing the dishes. You wash the first dish and keep
washing until you finish. The list goes on and on and on.

The question you need to ask yourself is, "If this principle works in
everyday routine occurrences, why wouldn't it work in all areas of my
life?" The answer is that it does work in other areas.

When I was starting Famous Amos, the first thing I did was ask my
friend B.J. Gilmore to check with the Health Department and find out
what the requirements were to open a store selling chocolate chip
cookies. I did not stop until I opened my first store.

When Famous Amos later sued me in a business argument, I refused to
feel victimized or sorry for myself. I took responsibility for what
had happened and began to look for answers and solutions. It took 19
months, but I successfully came out on the other end of the lawsuit.

I'll bet if you reviewed your successes you would find the success
principle at work in your life: not stopping until you finish. You
don't have to be extra smart.

I am a high school dropout. It does not matter what sex, race or
color you happen to be. What counts is stick-to-itiveness. Not
quitting. You are guaranteed to lose if you quit.

You never know what will happen if you just keep going. So go as
slow or as fast as you need to go. Just remember Confucius, and
whatever you do, please do not stop.
